Best time to visit: You have to go in the spring when the waterfall is at its full force, to experience the joy of this trail.

What to bring: Good pair of water repellant boots. Bring a plastic poncho, a towel and a good lunch.

Parking: Curry Village or “Hiker’s” parking lot. Both are free.

Restrooms: Right next to the bus stop. At the bridge halfway into the hike.

Are dogs allowed?: No.

Description: The trailhead starts at Happy Isles, stop #16 of the free shuttle bus. This is also the trailhead for the Half Dome and Nevada Falls’ hikes. Start at around 9:00 am from the Happy Isles trailhead, heading up a hill composed mainly of gravel. This initial portion of the trail shouldn’t be difficult, but on occasions it becomes very steep and you will have to stop to catch your breath. Once you complete this uphill series of steps you will come across a small bridge. On your way back you’ll find tons of people taking pictures and watching the beautiful waterfall from this point. There is a real risk of slipping on the wet rocks as you approach the waterfall, specially on the way down, so a good pair of water repellant hiking boots will be a good investment. I don’t recommend that you bring your kids of elder family members to this trail.
